Drumassault is a Canberra-based group that performs the traditional music of West Africa.  Primarily a drumming ensemble, the 5-piece incorporates strong vocals; the hauntingly beautiful melodies of the balafon (traditional African xylophone) and a powerful rhythm section featuring djembe and dundun drums.  With experience built from playing all over Canberra for the past eight years, Drumassault has firmly established their reputation as a tight group of skilled percussionists that performs an energetic set of authentic traditional West African music.  Group members have trained with master West African drummers here in Australia and in Guinea, Mali, Ghana, and The Gambia, West Africa.  Kate Gascoyne and Dan Graetz play lead djembe, Chris Jennaway plays balafon and Mark Jennaway and Miles Burns play a range of dundun (bass) drums - setting a groove and acting as an engine room for the infectious tribal rhythms.  The drumming is intense; the rhythms are complex; and Drumassault shows are always high-energy and totally invigorating!

The group's past public performances include:

- National Multicultural Festival
- SBS FIFA World Cup Launch
- Corinbank Music Festival
- Australia Day Celebrations
- Belconnen, Tuggeranong & Weston
  Creek Community Festivals
- Floriade
- ANU's Earth Hour Event
- Relay for Life ACT
- Groovin' in Garema
- Thredbo's Ski-Season Opening Weekend
- Dragon Dreaming Festival

Drumassault is proud to have performed with visiting artists from West Africa such as Wala from Ghana, master drummers Mohamed and Sibo Bangoura, and world-renowned grand master of djembe - Mamady Keita.

Drumassault can adapt their show to suit any event or venue, from corporate functions, nightclubs, music festivals, and opening ceremonies through to community events, school shows, private parties or even weddings with an exciting difference. Customise the entertainment for your event by having two seated drummers playing funky rhythms for a more low key event or the full band for a highly energetic stage show that can get people up and dancing.
