Drumassault is a Canberra-based group that performs the traditional rhythms of West Africa. Having played all over Canberra for the past seven years, the group has firmly established their reputation as a tight group of skilled drummers that performs a powerful set of authentic African music. Kate Gascoyne and Dan Graetz play lead djembe and have undertaken intensive study in West Africa in addition to studying under master African drummers here in Australia. Brothers Mark and Chris Jennaway play a range of dundun (bass) drums - setting a groove and acting as an engine room for the infectious tribal rhythms. The drumming is intense; the rhythms are complex; and their shows are always high-energy and totally invigorating!
The group's past public performances include:
- National Multicultural Festival
- SBS FIFA World Cup Launch
- Corinbank Music Festival

Drumassault is proud to have performed with visiting artists from West Africa such as Wala from Ghana, master drummers Mohamed and Sibo Bangoura, and world-renowned grand master of djembe - Mamady Keita.
Drumassault can adapt their show to suit any event or venue, from corporate functions, nightclubs, music festivals, and opening ceremonies through to community events, school shows, private parties or even weddings with an exciting difference. Customise the entertainment for your event by having two seated drummers playing funky rhythms for a more low key event or the full band for a highly energetic stage show that can get people up and dancing.
